March Inn

Why"March Inn?" March Inn was the name of that magic place where I spent my summers growing up. I have alluded to this place before, and I probably will again. March Inn is no longer standing. The waters of Katrina rendered it unlivable so my children will never know that "March Inn." That makes me sad. In fact it brings me to tears whenever I think about it. I want my children to have their own "March Inn," and I want to capture our lives as they are growing and changing. I invite you to "march inn" to our lives. My hope is that you will catch glimpses of the real world. You will see our creations. You will see our chaos. You will see our affection. You will also see our frustrations, fears, and disappointments. Enjoy your march!

"Hallelujah"

I was beginning to be concerned that this day was not going to happen ~

Our house demolition began today {and we closed on our loan}... I feel as if the ball is finally rolling again!

It was such an example of "good things happen when you least expect it". After the weather turned dreadfully dreary yesterday {cold, sleet, and ice} and the demolition was postponed, Frank and I truly did not expect it to happen until next week. We were okay with that! I decided that it would provide entertainment for everyone who was out of school.

We certainly weren't prepared for it to happen today. You see, yesterday we were ready! I sent an e-mail to our friends especially those with young male children who are obsessed with anything with wheels. I was on my way to Krispie Kreme for donuts and Starbucks for coffee and hot chocolate. The children all had on their Christmas outfits I was determined to get my Christmas card picture ~ I've been waiting for this event! Frank even went to the office in khaki pants and hiking boots in anticipation of the mud and muck. No go and so we went on with our day. I took lunch to Mary Frances because I was not going to check her out. I sent Stephen to school despite his protests. I took Walker to storytime at the library.

And now back to today ~ I already had enough on my agenda and was feeling quite stressed and overwhelmed...'tis the season.
First, we went to Mary Frances' kindergarten program. She was on the very front row and below the stage so we couldn't see great though we saw enough to know ALOT has changed since she was three. With a huge smile on her face, she excitedly sang every word to every song and did the all of the hand motions. This is contrasted to when she was three, and I sat with her to keep her from crying and she did not sing one word or do one hand motion even though she knew every word to every song.

We parted ways ~ Frank went to the office to try to get some work done, and I was headed to St. Luke's to take Stephen to school and then stay for my board meeting when Frank called to say the "digger" was on the way. On it's way! Our plans had changed again ~ there would be no e-mails sent nor no donuts, coffee, or hot chocolate this morning, but I didn't take Stephen to school and I did go check Mary Frances out of school. I told the ladies in the office it was a pitiful reason to be checked out of school, but it was a once in a lifetime event. They acted like they agreed.

The "digger" arrived...
We tried to get a Christmas card picture...

We waited... The first corner...
We watched...
A heap of rubble...

We marvelled that it takes such a short time for a house {our home} to be knocked to the ground and then it takes such a long time for it to be rebuilt. Isn't that true of so many things in life {trust, love, friendship, relationships}? Hold on to what is dear to you...
