March Inn

Why"March Inn?" March Inn was the name of that magic place where I spent my summers growing up. I have alluded to this place before, and I probably will again. March Inn is no longer standing. The waters of Katrina rendered it unlivable so my children will never know that "March Inn." That makes me sad. In fact it brings me to tears whenever I think about it. I want my children to have their own "March Inn," and I want to capture our lives as they are growing and changing. I invite you to "march inn" to our lives. My hope is that you will catch glimpses of the real world. You will see our creations. You will see our chaos. You will see our affection. You will also see our frustrations, fears, and disappointments. Enjoy your march!

Nursery in the Nile

I think I have finally recovered from last week. As I told you previously, we had Vacation Bible School on Monday through Thursday. This meant we needed to leave the house by 8:00 but certainly no later than 8:10 to arrive downtown, park, and make our way to the church. We were successful!
I helped in the nursery this year. This meant I was in Walker's class providing a modified age-appropriate program while Mary Frances and Stephen were downstairs enjoying a full program of activities. I'm not sure how many of you have participated in a VBS program with your children, but my limited experience tells me that it is a wonderful opportunity. Our VBS committee did a fabulous job this year as we journeyed with Joseph from jail to the palace. We learned that God gives us hope, special abilities, wisdom, and forgiveness. My children continue to "play" VBS and practice singing the songs that they learned throughout the week. They continue to read their memory-makers to practice the scripture verses that they recited, and they act like they are teenagers because they loved the teen helpers in their classes. Okay, maybe that last part isn't great, but it is pretty stinkin' cute because they don't really know what a teenager is.

Mary Frances and Stephen met me upstairs when they were finished. Sweet Mary Frances never tires of holding sweet Betsy.
I didn't take many pictures throughout the week, but this is one of my favorite shots. We were headed downstairs for the closing assembly when Walker took this little boy's hand to go line up. The other sweet boy kept repeating "He's holding my hand. He's holding my hand." with such sweet enthusiasm.

This is how we all felt by the end of the week.
Here's more proof of our exhaustion ~

I said I thought I had recovered and for the most part I have thanks to some early evenings. I'm not sure if Betsy is going to recover, but there will be ore on that later...

  1. VBS is so much fun...looking forward to ours. We journey to Egypt last summer...same program! Good luck with the continued recovery.
