March Inn

Why"March Inn?" March Inn was the name of that magic place where I spent my summers growing up. I have alluded to this place before, and I probably will again. March Inn is no longer standing. The waters of Katrina rendered it unlivable so my children will never know that "March Inn." That makes me sad. In fact it brings me to tears whenever I think about it. I want my children to have their own "March Inn," and I want to capture our lives as they are growing and changing. I invite you to "march inn" to our lives. My hope is that you will catch glimpses of the real world. You will see our creations. You will see our chaos. You will see our affection. You will also see our frustrations, fears, and disappointments. Enjoy your march!

Today is Monday

On Monday, I slept in.  Sleeping in, for me, means that I didn't get out of bed until 6:00.  Sleeping in also means that I didn't do many of the things I typically do when my house is still quiet.  This is particularly dangerous on Monday.  Because I didn't review my calendar and e-mail and various other tools that I use to keep chaos at bay, I forgot that Stephen was slated to say the pledge on broadcast at school.  Not only was he late to the broadcast room, he had a big bed head.

Let it be known that his father and I both attempted to get him to brush his hair with water, but apparently this was the look he was going for!

I only realized that I had slipped up when I went to check Mary Frances out of school at 8:05.  I know that sounds terribly silly, but because the school day begins at 7:50 this allowed her to get to school and unpack her backpack before she left to go to the orthodontist.
Have I told you we have braces?  Well, I guess you noticed in my pictures from Easter, but yes we have braces!  Our braces coincided with the arrival of the spring baseball season and in my dismal ability to keep up with our lives in writing was simply overlooked.
Upon dropping Mary Frances back at school, I took the little ones to the zoo for an hour.  I see my time with multiple preschoolers at home slipping away.  While that does not upset me, I want to capitalize on the time that I do have.

Who knew that the turtles would be one of the highlights of our zoo experience, but it has been for as long as I can remember.

And then of course there are walls.  Walls are always fun to climb on and off of.
They are going to miss each other next year.

Do you find yourself asking where the animals might be?
We really did see quite a few of the exhibits, but the animals aren't as fun to photograph as my children!

Now, this is something I want to remember - always.  The ruffle bottom, pink head cowboy boots, and headband.  She doesn't go many places without one.  In fact she sleeps with one.  Sometimes it is even clenched in her hand.  To her credit, she is amenable to taking it off when I prepare her.  Say for a baptism!  This is one of those phases that I realize the less said the more quickly it passes.
