March Inn

Why"March Inn?" March Inn was the name of that magic place where I spent my summers growing up. I have alluded to this place before, and I probably will again. March Inn is no longer standing. The waters of Katrina rendered it unlivable so my children will never know that "March Inn." That makes me sad. In fact it brings me to tears whenever I think about it. I want my children to have their own "March Inn," and I want to capture our lives as they are growing and changing. I invite you to "march inn" to our lives. My hope is that you will catch glimpses of the real world. You will see our creations. You will see our chaos. You will see our affection. You will also see our frustrations, fears, and disappointments. Enjoy your march!

Tea Time on Tuesday

Good Morning ~
I know I have been a long lost stranger.  But for my report on playing hooky, I've been missing in action.  And let me tell you it is action packed around here.  Maybe one day I can fill you in on that action but not today.

Mary Frances {and whoever else is interested at the moment} and I are reading The Secret Garden.  It has been so fun to have a book that is ours ~ that we both look forward to, that we can get lost in, that we can learn from.

If you have never read the book,  I'll begin by telling you it takes place on a moor in England.  As as the English  do, the characters in the story have afternoon tea.  Mary Frances asked what tea was.  Of course she knew that tea was a drink ~ either served hot or iced!  But in the context of the book it is clear that isn't exactly what they are alluding to.  She was not familiar with the concept of afternoon tea.  Sure, over the years we've had tea parties but they have been called just that "tea parties" not tea.  So yesterday at 4:00 we had our own version of tea.

They were hilarious and it was so much fun!

For the tea time snacks ~
Something healthy...

...and something a bit sweet.
Next Tuesday I've promised real crumpets using the recipe from our book.
