March Inn

Why"March Inn?" March Inn was the name of that magic place where I spent my summers growing up. I have alluded to this place before, and I probably will again. March Inn is no longer standing. The waters of Katrina rendered it unlivable so my children will never know that "March Inn." That makes me sad. In fact it brings me to tears whenever I think about it. I want my children to have their own "March Inn," and I want to capture our lives as they are growing and changing. I invite you to "march inn" to our lives. My hope is that you will catch glimpses of the real world. You will see our creations. You will see our chaos. You will see our affection. You will also see our frustrations, fears, and disappointments. Enjoy your march!

The Tradition Continues*

Check out his photo...

It was taken circa 1980 in Mobile Bay. The boat is the "Baby Blue." That is my father standing. Maggie, Leah, and I appear to be watching the sorting board to see what we caught in the trawl while Bill is no doubt chasing a baby crab around the boat. What Bill and I find comical is that not one of us is wearing a life-jacket. Fast forward 30+ years and none of us will let our little ones on a boat without their life-jacket. In fact the younger sect don't even get to roam the wharf without one.

Oh how times have changed though some things remain the same. There's my father again ~ this time with his grandchildren.

I'd say my brother and Anna unearthed the photo in a timely fashion! {Thanks for passing it on.}

This serves as a glimpse of what we have been up to ~ more to come ~ hopefully soon!

*As an aside, we are all so thankful to be able to continue this tradition. A year ago, several months after the BP oil spill, waters closed to all fishing activities, oil slicks spotted too close for comfort, tar balls appearing on our sandy white beaches, with boom in place those up and down the Gulf Coast were terribly concerned we were not going to be able to pass this legacy on to our children. It is with tears of relief in my eyes that I say a prayer of thanks that my children will in fact get to know the beauty of this tradition.
